Growing where science moves forward
Biomol’s growth in Spain and Portugal is not driven solely by the opening of new markets or the achievement of strategic agreements. Above all, it is built through an active presence, trusted relationships and a way of working that places proximity at the heart of every project.
June offered a particularly meaningful expression of this vision. On the one hand, we consolidated our alliance with Covaris. On the other, we continued to strengthen our activity in Portugal. Together, these developments represented two complementary dimensions of the same process: reinforcing what we have already built and expanding our ability to support the scientific community wherever its work takes place.
For us, growth is not an end in itself. Instead, it must be guided by purpose, consistency and a clearly recognisable value proposition.

Consolidating a partnership means sharing a vision
Truly strategic collaborations are not sustained by commercial objectives alone. They also require mutual understanding, reciprocity and a shared view of how the scientific community should be supported.
Martin Grafe, Commercial & Distribution Manager EMEA at Covaris, spent several days with us in Seville. His visit gave both teams the opportunity to deepen this shared vision.
During his stay, Martin visited our offices and Club Cámara Antares. These meetings created a broader space for dialogue. As a result, we were able to discuss not only current opportunities, but also the direction in which both companies wish to continue moving together.
Within this context, Biomol formally became the exclusive distributor of the Covaris portfolio in Spain and Portugal.
However, the significance of this agreement goes beyond its contractual dimension. For Biomol, it confirms a relationship built over time. Moreover, it recognises a way of working based on specialisation, reliability and proximity.
The agreement also brings renewed responsibility. Exclusivity requires us to expand our capacity to respond and strengthen our technical and commercial support. In addition, it reinforces our commitment to providing researchers, hospitals, technology centres and biotechnology companies with a level of service suited to the demands of their projects.
This progress is also the result of a collective effort. Every department at Biomol contributes to a shared structure. Strategy, management, support, communication and commercial activity all work together to turn a partnership into a valuable experience for our customers.

Portugal as part of an established presence
Biomol’s development in Portugal is not starting from scratch. Through Biolusa, we already have an established presence in the country. From this foundation, we continue to strengthen our relationships with universities, hospitals and research centres.
Our objective is not simply to increase our activity. Rather, we aim to deepen our understanding of the Portuguese scientific ecosystem and reinforce a position built on proximity.
This approach to expansion requires an active presence on the ground. Therefore, José Luis Cortés, Director of Expansion, and Verónica Sasso, a specialist in our Field Application Specialists department, met with several research groups across Portugal.
These meetings allowed them to gain first-hand insight into the groups’ research lines, specific needs and potential opportunities for collaboration.
One of the most significant activities was the demonstration conducted by Verónica Sasso at NOVA University Lisbon. The session focused on the applications of Parsortix® in liquid biopsy and breast cancer research.
Nevertheless, the importance of the meeting did not lie solely in presenting the technology. Its true value came from creating a space for dialogue around its practical use. It also provided an opportunity to address specific questions and assess its potential within real scientific projects.
Furthermore, the positive response from the participating teams confirmed the relevance of this approach. Listening before proposing, understanding before recommending and supporting before simply supplying are essential principles in the way we work.
In this context, Biolusa plays a fundamental role as Biomol’s extension in Portugal. It also provides a platform from which we continue to consolidate relationships, identify new opportunities and expand our reach across the country.

Growing with an identity of our own
The alliance with Covaris and the strengthening of our activity in Portugal reflect the same approach to business development.
Biomol’s growth in Spain and Portugal is built through long-term relationships, a strong territorial presence and direct involvement in the projects of our customers and partners.
Technology is an essential part of our activity. However, it does not define our contribution on its own. Our true added value lies in our ability to interpret technology, adapt it and place it at the service of specific scientific needs.
This requires knowledge, availability and specialised support. At the same time, it requires an understanding that every project involves people, expectations and challenges. Consequently, these projects cannot always be addressed through standardised solutions.
For us, growth means expanding our capabilities without losing proximity. It also means consolidating partnerships without giving up personalised attention. Finally, it means entering new territories while preserving an identity based on trust and commitment.
June was not simply a month marked by two important developments. Instead, it demonstrated how Biomol understands its future: as a company that evolves alongside science, strengthens its relationships and turns every connection into an opportunity to create greater value.
