Loyola University and the Instituto Biomol Foundation strengthen their collaboration with the inauguration of a new biomedical research laboratory
The new facility at the Faculty of Health Sciences drives applied research, education, and specialized scientific infrastructure.
Loyola University and the Instituto Biomol Foundation have strengthened their strategic collaboration with the inauguration of a new research laboratory at the Faculty of Health Sciences on the Seville campus. This initiative is part of the extension of the framework agreement signed in 2023 and consolidates a joint commitment to biomedical and biotechnological research, health sciences education, and the development of specialized scientific infrastructure.
The launch of the new laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Sciences highlights a collaboration that has been built progressively and consistently over time. Since its inception, this alliance has aimed to strengthen Loyola University’s research capacity and to provide suitable environments for experimental research, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and its application in the field of health.

The new facility has been designed as a laboratory focused on biomedical and biotechnological research, equipped with advanced scientific instrumentation to support the daily work of researchers and students. The equipment includes refrigerated centrifuges, biological microscopy systems, PCR thermocyclers, electrophoresis systems, thermostatic baths, analytical balances and essential laboratory equipment, thereby reinforcing the experimental capabilities of Loyola University’s research groups.
During the inauguration ceremony, Rafael Estévez Hidalgo, trustee of the Instituto Biomol Foundation, emphasized that this collaboration “is much more than a laboratory: it is a space for knowledge, collaboration and the future.” In his remarks, he highlighted that solid progress in biomedical and biotechnological research is only possible when talent, adequate infrastructure and collaboration between institutions committed to the social impact of knowledge come together.
The extension of the agreement also includes support from the Instituto Biomol Foundation for advanced postgraduate training, strengthening the link between research, education and knowledge transfer. This educational dimension reflects a shared vision that understands investment in talent as a strategic element for scientific development.
With the inauguration of this new laboratory, Loyola University and the Instituto Biomol Foundation reinforce their commitment to high-quality research, closely connected to current scientific and social challenges, and to a model of institutional collaboration based on trust, continuity and a long-term vision.
