CABD and Biomol celebrate the 2nd Edition of the Science Communication Awards

A day dedicated to recognising the social impact of science communication and the value of bringing science closer to society

On 17 December, the Andalusian Centre for Developmental Biology (CABD), together with Biomol, hosted the 2nd Edition of the Science Communication Awards, an event aimed at recognising individuals and projects that help bring scientific knowledge closer to society.

The ceremony, held at CABD’s facilities in Seville, brought together researchers, science communicators and representatives from various scientific and academic institutions. The event highlighted the importance of science communication as a key tool for strengthening the relationship between science and society, particularly in a context marked by misinformation and the growing need for critical thinking.

The event was attended by Peter Askjaer, Director of CABD; Marta Artal, Deputy Scientific Director of CABD; Ismael Ferreira, representative of CSIC Andalusia; Anabel Varela, Head of the Science Communication Unit at Pablo de Olavide University; Loreto del Valle, Director General for Research Planning of Andalusia; and Roberto García, representing Fundación Descubre, together with Rafael Estévez Hidalgo, CEO of Biomol.

During his speech, he highlighted the social value of science communication, stating:

Communicating science means translating complexity, bringing what seems distant closer, and transforming data into stories that can be understood and remembered.

This second edition of the awards recognised both individual and group initiatives that stand out for their creativity, rigour and ability to connect science with diverse audiences, reinforcing the role of communication as an essential part of scientific and social progress.

At Biomol, we reaffirm our commitment to initiatives that contribute to a more accessible, understandable and socially connected science.
